Automatic & Smart Feeders
Timed, hopper, app, camera, microchip and gravity feeders, compared on capacity, portion control and power.
Hopper feeders dispense measured portions of dry food on a schedule; app models let you change times and feed remotely, and some add a camera. Timed tray feeders open lidded compartments and can hold wet food. Microchip feeders open only for the registered pet, which stops food stealing.
For large dogs, check hopper capacity and the largest kibble size the feeder handles. Gravity feeders let a dog eat as much as it wants, which suits very few dogs.
What decides it
Dog size
Big dogs need big hoppers and anti-jam dispensers for large kibble.
Portion control
Look at the portion range and how many meals a day you can set.
Power backup
Battery backup keeps meals coming in a power cut.
Multi-pet homes
Microchip feeders keep each pet on its own food.
