Why it matters
The transmitter creates a circular boundary 10–180 ft across, up to 1/2 acre. Keep it at least 3 ft from metal; metal roofs and RVs can shrink the boundary. The collar runs on an RFA-67 battery for about 1–2 months, with tone-only and 5 static levels, for dogs 8 lb and up.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Smaller yards
- Camping (no metal nearby)
- No-dig installs
Look elsewhere if
- Dogs that chase traffic or wildlife hard
- Fearful or reactive dogs
- Homes near busy roads without a physical fence
Pros and cons
Pros
- No digging
- Portable
- Known brand
Cons
- Metal interference
- Circular only
- Battery cost
Limitations to weigh
- Invisible fences don't stop other animals or people coming in, and a determined dog may run through the boundary and then be blocked from returning.
- Containment systems need several weeks of flag training with rewards; welfare groups advise a qualified trainer and physical fencing where possible.
- Static corrections are aversive; use tone or vibration first and the lowest level that works.
