Why it matters
Aimed at stubborn dogs, the collar adds a tone-plus-vibration mode that PetSafe notes suits hearing-impaired pets, plus 4 static levels. Coverage runs from 1/3 acre included to 25 acres. It uses a 9-volt alkaline battery (included) and fits dogs 8 lb and up from 6 months.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Stubborn dogs
- Deaf dogs
- Big properties
Look elsewhere if
- Dogs that chase traffic or wildlife hard
- Fearful or reactive dogs
- Homes near busy roads without a physical fence
Pros and cons
Pros
- Vibration mode
- 25 acres
- Known brand
Cons
- 9V battery
- Digging
- Static
Limitations to weigh
- Invisible fences don't stop other animals or people coming in, and a determined dog may run through the boundary and then be blocked from returning.
- Containment systems need several weeks of flag training with rewards; welfare groups advise a qualified trainer and physical fencing where possible.
- Static corrections are aversive; use tone or vibration first and the lowest level that works.
