PetSafe Classic In-Ground Fence: Tone, Vibration, 7 Static Levels

Why it matters

The Classic covers 1/3 acre with the included wire and up to 5 acres with more. The collar offers tone and vibration plus 7 static levels (8 settings), charges in 2–3 hours and lasts up to 3 weeks, fitting 6–26 in necks. It comes as a 1-dog or 2-dog system.

Who it's for, and who should skip it

Good fit if

Custom yards
Two-dog homes
Vibration warnings

Look elsewhere if

Dogs that chase traffic or wildlife hard
Fearful or reactive dogs
Homes near busy roads without a physical fence

Pros and cons

Pros

Vibration option
Expandable
2-dog option

Cons

Digging
Wire breaks
3-week battery

Limitations to weigh

Invisible fences don't stop other animals or people coming in, and a determined dog may run through the boundary and then be blocked from returning.
Containment systems need several weeks of flag training with rewards; welfare groups advise a qualified trainer and physical fencing where possible.
Static corrections are aversive; use tone or vibration first and the lowest level that works.
