Why it matters
The system covers 1/3 acre with the included wire and up to 25 acres with more. The collar uses an RFA-67 battery lasting about 1–2 months, with tone-only and 4 static levels, for dogs over 8 lb with 6–26 in necks.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Large properties
- Battery-swap preference
- Custom shapes
Look elsewhere if
- Dogs that chase traffic or wildlife hard
- Fearful or reactive dogs
- Homes near busy roads without a physical fence
Pros and cons
Pros
- 25 acres
- Known brand
- Custom shape
Cons
- Battery cost
- Digging
- Four levels
Limitations to weigh
- Invisible fences don't stop other animals or people coming in, and a determined dog may run through the boundary and then be blocked from returning.
- Containment systems need several weeks of flag training with rewards; welfare groups advise a qualified trainer and physical fencing where possible.
- Static corrections are aversive; use tone or vibration first and the lowest level that works.
