Why it matters
The reservoir and drinking top are white-glazed ceramic with a copper spout. A sponge pre-filter catches hair and a carbon filter reduces odors; three sets are included. The 0.7 W pump runs under 20 dB. It holds 4 L for small and medium dogs or several pets.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Small and medium dogs
- Plastic-free homes
- Quiet rooms
Look elsewhere if
- Owners who won't clean weekly
- Cord chewers (use cordless)
- Outdoor use (unless rated)
Pros and cons
Pros
- Ceramic
- Very quiet
- Three filter sets
Cons
- Can chip
- Price
- Heavy
Limitations to weigh
- Take the fountain apart and clean the pump weekly, and change filters as the maker directs; slime builds up fast in warm rooms.
- Keep the cord out of reach of chewers, and keep the pump covered with water so it doesn't run dry.
