Why it matters
The flap opening is 10 1/4 x 16 1/4 in in a 14 1/4 x 21 1/16 in frame. Three magnetic flaps insulate, the frame is thickened outdoor plastic, and the telescoping tunnel fits doors 1 3/8 to 1 31/32 in thick. A template and instructions are included.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Large dogs
- Cold climates
- Value buyers
Look elsewhere if
- Owners wanting selective entry (any animal can use it)
- Renters who can't cut doors
- Metal or glass doors (check compatibility)
Pros and cons
Pros
- Three flaps
- Telescoping
- Value
Cons
- Plastic frame
- Stiffer flaps
- Door thickness limit
Limitations to weigh
- Measure your dog's shoulder height and widest point; the flap top should sit at least an inch or two above the shoulder, and the step-over should be low enough for seniors and short legs.
- Any flap big enough for your dog can let in wildlife, other animals and, rarely, people; lock the closing panel at night and when you are away.
- Door and wall installs mean cutting; check for wiring and studs in walls, metal or glass in doors, and rental rules before you start.
