The cheapest 1-mile unit here, adding SportDOG's BodyGuard health alerts. Submersible to only 3 ft, so it's less suited to water dogs.

One mile with a simple 8-level dial for fast, no-look changes and up to three dogs. Coarser steps than Dogtra's 100-level units.
SportDOG SportHunter 1825X
A full mile with 21 finely graduated static levels and a 25 ft submersible build, the same controls as the popular 825X.
SportDOG UplandHunter 1875
Adds a built-in beeper so you can hear where a pointing dog is in heavy cover, plus 1-mile range and 7 static levels.
Dogtra EDGE RT2 Remote Training Collar
Stretches to 1.2 miles with a 10-level dial, combination boost, XPP vibration and support for four dogs.
Dogtra EDGE Remote Training Collar
One mile and up to four dogs for hunting packs. Superseded by the 1.2-mile EDGE2, so compare prices.
SportDOG HoundHunter 3225
The longest range here at 2 miles, built for hounds that run far, with 7 static levels.
Dogtra EDGE2 Remote Training Collar
Dogtra's longest-range EDGE at 1.2 miles, expandable to four dogs with colored receivers for 35 lb and larger dogs.
How to choose between them
Long range matters for hunting and big open country; for yards and parks, a 400 to 500-yard unit is easier to carry and cheaper. Range figures are open-ground best cases.
Most long-range units are high-output tools for large, driven dogs. Use the lowest level that works and get help from a qualified trainer.
