Why it matters
The Elite unit covers up to 50 ft in a 180-degree arc, so you can aim it at the area where barking happens. It runs on a replaceable 9-volt battery (not included) and reacts to any dog in range.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Good fit if
- Yard barking
- Directional coverage
- No collar
Look elsewhere if
- Homes with other dogs you don't want affected
- Dogs barking from fear or anxiety
- Deaf or hard-of-hearing dogs
Pros and cons
Pros
- Directional
- No collar
- Known brand
Cons
- Affects all dogs
- Battery not included
- Dogs habituate
Limitations to weigh
- Find out why your dog barks first: boredom, fear, separation distress and alerting all need different fixes, and a bark collar can make fear or anxiety worse.
- Stations react to any dog in range, including neighbors' dogs and visiting pets, and can bother cats; many dogs get used to the sound.
